The Wheelchair Zayn Chose

The Wheelchair Zayn Chose

If you’re choosing a wheelchair, here’s a secret tip to help you along: we know which wheelchair the celebrities prefer – especially for temporary use.

This week, Zayn Malik, British singer and songwriter, made the news when he was spotted in a wheelchair for a mysterious injury that only lasted long enough to create some hype on the news – and long enough to let us know that the K1 Basic Wheelchair from Medline is the way to go!

The K1 Basic Wheelchair, clearly not that basic if it was chosen by Zayn, is a long-time bestseller from Medline which offers top quality at a reasonable price.

Its attractive gray powder finish, high quality welding, comfortable upholstery and easy-to-use features combine to make this manual wheelchair a great choice.

Other great features includes its 300 lb weight capacity, overall weight of only 39 lbs. and small front wheels for easy maneuvering, even in tight spaces. With all these features and more (including the fact that it’s fully adjustable, easy to fold and unfold and available in a full range of sizes), it’s no wonder Zayn Malik chose this wheelchair for the short but famous time he spent off his injured foot.

Great way to feature the Medline K1 wheelchair! But as an ATP and a wheelchair specialist, WOW. The way he is positioned in that wheelchair makes my head hurt! I mean, come on! Who adjusted those leg rests? Looks like the seat depth was a little small too. I realize he was probably only using it for a short period of time but this article does also highlight the importance of proper wheelchair fitting. Just having a little fun with you!

I totally agree with you, Scott – I was shocked by the way he was using his chair… In fact, he seems to have removed the legrest pads so he can simply prop his legs up on them! Who would’ve thought wheelchair positioning actually takes explaining?? 😉

This definitely highlights the need for proper fitting like seat depth and legrest length. So many people think a wheelchair is a just a wheelchair. But proper fit is an important factor not only for comfort but also for function. If he was in a chair long term, he would have leg and lower back pain…. guaranteed!
