Product Review: Lumbar Support Cushion from Roscoe

The lumbar support pillow by Roscoe is definitely up there as a favorite product at AvaCare Medical – in fact, most of our office chairs happily wear these cushions daily to provide support for our hard-working staff members.

The fact that we’ve chosen to use these cushions, when we had a large range of support cushions at our disposal, is already a great indication of its superiority.

But what makes it so great?

A lot of things, really.

What Makes the Roscoe Lumbar Cushion so Great

Yep, it’s that simple: the Roscoe lumbar cushion is great. Here are some of the things that make it stand apart from its cushion peers:

The material. IT’S NOT MEMORY FOAM. (Now go back and read that with as much emotion as possible.) This cushion is not made with memory foam, making it a truly supportive cushion – nothing like those thin pillows you can barely feel when your weight is pressed against them. When it comes to lumbar support, you really want something that will hold up all day, providing firm support – and this cushion definitely delivers on that.
The quality. Even with regular use, these cushions don’t wear out easily, providing consistently reliable support so you don’t have to worry about constantly replacing it.
The cover. It comes standard with a zip-on cover that is completely washable. Goodbye yellowed memory foam cushion that you don’t even want to look at anymore, never mind sit with.
The color. Black might not be that remarkable – but in my opinion, black is better than blue, especially when it comes to a cushion of this type. Many comparable products are a navy blue, but if you’re using the cushion on a black chair (like an office chair), it matches – and if you’re not, at least it won’t clash! Unless, of course, your chair is blue…

Product Cons

It’s very firm. It may be true that for this type of product that’s a pro, there is one catch: if it’s used incorrectly, it can cause back pain instead of relieving it. But so long as you position it in a way that works well for your body, you – and your back – will love this cushion.
The back strap is tight. The strap on the back is a great convenience, but if your chair is a lot wider than 13.5″ – the width of this product – it may be difficult – or even impossible to get the strap around the back of your chair.
