May is coming to an end. It’s been a busy month, being both Older Americans Month and Arthritis Month, and including many special events which we celebrated together, including Mother’s Day and Memorial Day… and of course, Nurses Week.

At AvaCare Medical, we spread the love for our nurses with a special Nurses Week contest.

For those of you who don’t remember, these were the rules:

It’s Nurses Week, a time to celebrate nurses across the US who bring more health, wellness and love to the world every day!

Designated to this time of year in honor of the birthday of Florence Nightingale, the founder of modern nursing, Nurses Week recognizes those who devote themselves to the welfare of those committed to their care.

Tell us about a nurse who exemplifies this care and compassion in his/her work, and we’ll send you an exclusive code for 10% off your next order!

Since every customer who submitted a story automatically received 10% off their next order, everyone was a winner.

Still, we decided to choose some of the best submissions to share with our readers.

I recently met a young RN whose name is Sara Sawicki.  She is such a wonderful person and I know she is a great nurse.  Anyone who cares for the sick has to have a wonderful worth ethic. She works for Mercy Health Center in Toledo, Ohio.

My daughter, Elizabeth inspires everyday.  She works long hours as a critical care nurse with responsibilities encompassing the burn, intensive care and trauma units in a major East Coast City.  She has developed skills that she is called upon to share with her colleagues.  Her career choice is one I could never do, but she loves it.

Fred Z.

Karen Katoot is a retired oncology nurse that was always dedicated to making her patients lives and every person she comes in contact with better.  She is the most kind, patient and selfless person I have ever met.  Karen is my best friend and I am grateful to have her in my life.  After retirement, until recently, she volunteered her time to rock nicu babies at Scottish Rite Hospital in Atlanta.  Now Karen is caring for her own mother that is suffering with age related illnesses.

Karen has touched the lives of many people over her career and and through out her entire life in positive, significant and often life altering ways.
